Ben Simiyu

Managing Partner

Bio

For Ben Simiyu, the law has always been personal. It began with a piece of his grandfather’s land, lost because the family could not afford to fight for it, and a resolve that no one with a rightful claim should be left without a voice. More than two decades on, that resolve still defines how he practises.

As Managing Partner of Simiyu & Partners Advocates LLP, Ben is a courtroom lawyer at heart, with deep experience across litigation, dispute resolution, and arbitration, from cross-border commercial recovery to high-stakes infrastructure and aviation matters. He is known less for winning at all costs than for resolving things well: clear-eyed strategy, plain talk about risk, and outcomes clients can live with.

That commitment to practical solutions extends beyond legal practice. Ben is a Board Member of Imarisha Ulimwengu Initiative, a Kenyan NGO focused on expanding access to education, promoting human rights, improving food security, and strengthening community resilience. The work reflects the same principle that drew him to law in the first place: creating pathways for people to protect their rights, improve their circumstances, and build more secure futures.

Ben is associated with Friends Church (Quakers), whose values, Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship, have greatly shaped his thinking and worldview. Away from the law, he is a lover of nature and spends time at his countryside farm in Trans Nzoia County, grounded and guided by a favourite line from Nelson Mandela: rise every time you fall.
