Laureen Rasoa Wafula came to law, by her own admission, mostly because of the diversity of the career path. A law degree can lead to careers in private practice, government, business, nonprofit organisations, academia, diplomacy, or even politics. She wanted the power of choice and range that law provided.

What began as a practical decision has become a deliberate one. An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya admitted in 2023, Laureen practises mainly in commercial and civil litigation at Simiyu & Partners Advocates LLP. Commercial work is where her interest sits most happily. She likes that it keeps her learning, with new questions arriving almost daily. In her time at the firm she has drafted pleadings and legal opinions, appeared in court for hearings and mentions, handled conveyancing and the registration of titles, registered companies, and prepared commercial documents, the broad grounding of a litigator finding her stride.

Laureen studied law at the University of Nairobi before completing the Advocates Training Programme at the Kenya School of Law. She trained at Masika and Koross Advocates through internship, pupillage, and a period as a legal assistant before joining Simiyu & Partners Advocates LLP in 2024, carrying with her the principles her pupillage instilled: professionalism, integrity, humility, and hard work.
